"It takes great courage to acknowledge and admit you are struggling and it takes even more courage to open up and reach out to someone for support. That is true strength- to allow yourself to be vulnerable and then to ask for help."
Katharine is a wife, mother of three children, and a generous member of our community with her time and talent. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Katharine attended UNC-Chapel Hill. After graduating and working in London for a bit, Katharine continued her studies at Oglethorpe University where she received her teaching degree. She and Mike were married in 1993 and moved to Augusta, Georgia where she taught Kindergarten while Mike was in residency. In 1999, they moved to Charlotte, where they raised their three children, Ansley, David, and Andrew.
As her children began school, it naturally made sense for Katharine to get involved. She combined her love of education and passion for children in the leadership roles she held with Parents Council, Booster Club, and various other committees during the twenty years her children attended Charlotte Latin School. Katharine also gives of her time at Good Friends of Charlotte, FOR Students, and Myers Park United Methodist Church.
When Katharine is not volunteering or taking care of her family, she enjoys exercising, playing tennis, pickleball, gardening, bridge, and hiking with friends and family.
