A 'New Type of Tough' embodies vulnerability, authenticity, and the validity of all feelings. It's fighting against stigma and no longer acting like all is always okay. This is the ultimate toughness/courage since we're all in it together!
Juliet Lam Kuehnle was born and raised in Pinehurst, NC as a huge Duke fan. She can't believe this event is on the sacred night of Duke/UNC, but anything for an amazing cause.
Juliet earned her undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University and then went on to earn her Masters in Counseling from UNCG. She and her husband, Edward, moved to Charlotte in 2006. Edward loves endurance sports, Dave Matthews Band, and dad jokes. They have two curious, hilarious, and brave daughters, ages 10 and 12, and a dog named Parmesan. Her family's favorite thing to do is travel the world, go to musicals and concerts, and decorate the house for holidays.
Juliet is a therapist who goes to therapy. She is on a mission to elevate and normalize the way we understand and talk about mental wellness. She is a National Board-Certified Counselor and mental health therapist who founded and owns Sun Counseling & Wellness, a private practice in Charlotte, North Carolina that also provides telehealth throughout several states. She is also a mental health/wellness consultant, global keynote speaker, and writer. Juliet's first book, Who You Callin' Crazy?! The Journey from Stigma to Therapy takes readers from curiosity to action regarding their mental health. Juliet hosts a podcast that is also called, "Who You Callin' Crazy?!" that features practical therapy tips and conversations with interesting people you (want to) know. She is regularly featured on WBTV and WCNC and has been in many publications including Newsweek, Insider, Shondaland, PsychCentral, and Medium/Elemental. You can follow Juliet on social media @YepIGoToTherapy for relatable, helpful, and often humorous insight. You can also request her to speak, access free resources, and shop her therapy swag at yepigototherapy.com.
